There are artists, writers, and so on out there that have honestly awesome work, but are unable to put it online because they don't know how to make a website.
Well, I'm hoping to help these people by offering a my services as a website designer for hire.
My prices are relatively low: I charge $50 flat for the first hour, then $12.50 for each ½ hour after that.
What I Can Do
I have been coding websites for quite some time and am a native speaker of English. Therefore, I will do:
- Hypertext Markup Language
- A.K.A. HTML, the stuff that makes a webpage a webpage.
- Cascading Style Sheets
- A.K.A. CSS, which makes a website look cool.
- Javascript
- Just in case you want some cool little "shinies" like pop-up menus on your webpage.
- Proofreading.
- This is offered for English-language websites only. It includes grammar and spelling, plus suggestions on better phrasing.
If you want some server-side stuff, I am good with:
- PHP
- This language allows for dynamically-generated pages.
- SQL
- A language for interacting with databases like MySQL.
- SHTML
- a type of HTML which allows for some server-side processing.
If I feel that something is a poor idea, I will advise you on that.
Important Note:
The host must allow server-side scripting. I know several that don't, especially free hosts.
What I do not do
There are a number of things that are beyond my ability.
- Complex Graphics.
- I cannot draw, and have minimal graphical skills or programs. This may change in the future. I can certainly work with graphics provided me, but I am not skilled at actually creating them.
- Any language designed for Microsoft's .NET framework.
- This includes ASP.Net, VB.Net, C#.Net, and so on. Sorry, but that is my final word on the subject; I find those languages a nightmare to work with.
- Flash.
- I do not know how to work with Flash. I am sorry. If you want animated menus, I can usually do that with JavaScript.
- Java Applets.
- My Java skills are not that good yet.
- Non-English proofreading.
- English is the only language I am fluent in. If you have a website in more than one language and one of the languages is English, I will proofread the English part.
